2A- Bug List

After going through and thinking of things that bug me in life, I have decided to include the following 20 bugs, why they occur, and how I can overcome them:

  1. Getting less than 8 hours of sleep and feeling like you want to nap all day even though you have so much to do.
    1. Why:  I often waste too much time on my phone or computer before I go to bed and I could have been using the extra time to sleep.
    2. Answer:  I am going to try to eliminate my time spent on social media.
  2. Only having unhealthy options to eat conveniently which makes it so hard to not gain weight.
    1. Why:  I am on my sorority meal plan and there are always desserts, pastas, etc.
    2. Answer:  Luckily I am learning to be more conscious and use the salad bar.
  3. Judgemental people that look down upon you when having a conversation.
    1. Why:  I try not to surround myself with these kinds of people because it is not healthy and does not positively influence my well-being.
    2. Answer:  I work actively to continue friendships that I am comfortable with.
  4. Forgetting my headphones while at the library and not being able to listen to music or watch presentations.
    1. Why:  I like to use my headphones at night and often leave them on my dresser.
    2. Answer:  I will put my headphones back in my backpack before I leave for the day.
  5. Taking classes that are simply requirements and having nothing to do with my core interests and major (I genuinely love this class)!
    1. Why:  Last year I had to take a lot of gen eds and didnt feel like they were helping me grow as a person but rather were full of busy work.
    2. Answer:  I tried to complete the classes with a positive attitude and got good grades.  I also research the classes that I take each semester before selecting them.
  6. One-sided friendships
    1. Why:  I have realized that I do not need to be the only one asking someone to hangout in a friendship.
    2. Answer:  I should surround myself with individuals that share similar values..
  7. Feeling unsafe in my surroundings
    1. Why:  Unfortunately I do not feel safe in a college town to walk alone at night.
    2. Answer:  I always try to be with people that I trust and use Uber, SNAP, etc.
  8. People that are unable to see two sides of a problem or situation and refuse to try to understand
    1. Why:  Some people are just so close-minded, especially when it comes to politics and it becomes difficult to have a meaningful conversation when they do not try to see another point of view.
    2. Answer:  I have learned not to argue with people that think that they are always right.
  9. Allergies!! I hate seeming sick even when I’m not.
    1. Why:  I never had allergies growing up in South Florida but the pollen levels in Gainesville are so different and cause my ears and nose to hurt.

    1. Why:  Sometimes I forget to set an alarm and end up oversleeping.
    2. Answer:  I am going to try to take less naps and will keep busy to get things done and maintain my sleep schedule.

Reflection:

I found it easy to think of the first ten bugs but started to struggle with the second half.
I think that the reason that I found it harder to come up with more was because I kept
questioning the validity of my bugs and realize that I have solutions to many of them.
I really enjoyed this assignment because I am able to look back on it and become a happier individual
since I am now aware of my frustrations and can overcome them.

  1. Emily, I enjoyed reading your bug list because I agree with many of the things that you listed. I thought that your reflection was insightful when you said that you realized you had solutions to most of your problems. I relate to your issue about having a hard time letting things go. I often hoard my stuff for no reason and it makes no sense. By learning to let go, I will have a cleaner space and feel less overwhelmed by everything that I have.

  2. Hi!
I liked that you included a way to "fix" your "bugs," and I appreciated the extra effort that you put into this assignment. I was able to relate to a fair amount of the bugs you listed, such as numbers 5, 12, and 18. The last sentence in your reflection does a great job at summarizing this assignment. I found that after I finished this assignment, I felt a little ridiculous complaining about some of the things I listed and was able to let go. Thanks for sharing!
