2A- Bug List
After going through and thinking of things that bug me in life, I have decided to include the following 20 bugs, why they occur, and how I can overcome them:
- Getting less than 8 hours of sleep and feeling like you want to nap all day even though you have so much to do.
- Why: I often waste too much time on my phone or computer before I go to bed and I could have been using the extra time to sleep.
- Answer: I am going to try to eliminate my time spent on social media.
- Only having unhealthy options to eat conveniently which makes it so hard to not gain weight.
- Why: I am on my sorority meal plan and there are always desserts, pastas, etc.
- Answer: Luckily I am learning to be more conscious and use the salad bar.
- Judgemental people that look down upon you when having a conversation.
- Why: I try not to surround myself with these kinds of people because it is not healthy and does not positively influence my well-being.
- Answer: I work actively to continue friendships that I am comfortable with.
- Forgetting my headphones while at the library and not being able to listen to music or watch presentations.
- Why: I like to use my headphones at night and often leave them on my dresser.
- Answer: I will put my headphones back in my backpack before I leave for the day.
- Taking classes that are simply requirements and having nothing to do with my core interests and major (I genuinely love this class)!
- Why: Last year I had to take a lot of gen eds and didnt feel like they were helping me grow as a person but rather were full of busy work.
- Answer: I tried to complete the classes with a positive attitude and got good grades. I also research the classes that I take each semester before selecting them.
- One-sided friendships
- Why: I have realized that I do not need to be the only one asking someone to hangout in a friendship.
- Answer: I should surround myself with individuals that share similar values..
- Feeling unsafe in my surroundings
- Why: Unfortunately I do not feel safe in a college town to walk alone at night.
- Answer: I always try to be with people that I trust and use Uber, SNAP, etc.
- People that are unable to see two sides of a problem or situation and refuse to try to understand
- Why: Some people are just so close-minded, especially when it comes to politics and it becomes difficult to have a meaningful conversation when they do not try to see another point of view.
- Answer: I have learned not to argue with people that think that they are always right.
- Allergies!! I hate seeming sick even when I’m not.
- Why: I never had allergies growing up in South Florida but the pollen levels in Gainesville are so different and cause my ears and nose to hurt.
- Answer: I am starting to take new allergy medicines to make myself feel better and more comfortable.
- Being sick and not being able to participate in activities that I would have otherwise taken part in,
- Why: I sometimes overwork myself and don't get enough sleep which causes my health to temporarily decline.

- Answer: I am going to try to take less naps and will keep busy to get things done and maintain my sleep schedule.
Reflection:
I found it easy to think of the first ten bugs but started to struggle with the second half.
I think that the reason that I found it harder to come up with more was because I kept
questioning the validity of my bugs and realize that I have solutions to many of them.
I really enjoyed this assignment because I am able to look back on it and become a happier individual
since I am now aware of my frustrations and can overcome them.

Emily, I enjoyed reading your bug list because I agree with many of the things that you listed. I thought that your reflection was insightful when you said that you realized you had solutions to most of your problems. I relate to your issue about having a hard time letting things go. I often hoard my stuff for no reason and it makes no sense. By learning to let go, I will have a cleaner space and feel less overwhelmed by everything that I have.
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI liked that you included a way to "fix" your "bugs," and I appreciated the extra effort that you put into this assignment. I was able to relate to a fair amount of the bugs you listed, such as numbers 5, 12, and 18. The last sentence in your reflection does a great job at summarizing this assignment. I found that after I finished this assignment, I felt a little ridiculous complaining about some of the things I listed and was able to let go. Thanks for sharing!
