14A – Halfway Reflection
Some how I blinked and we are already half way through the semester. These past few weeks have honestly flown by and have truly kept me on my toes. In order to keep up with this course, I have developed better time-management skills as I balance the weekly assignments, my job, extra-curricular, and mental relaxation. I try to spread out the time that I work on each assignment so that I do not feel crammed doing them both at the same time. Additionally, I have become a better interviewer and can r recognize greater questions to ask people when trying to learn more about a subject. While this class has been fun, there have definitely been times when I felt really stressed and felt like not doing an assignment. For example, I was really busy during the week of the elevator pitch and pushed off the project for too long. I did not feel like going through all of the work to record it in the best presentable way but eventually asked a friend for some assistance and got the work done. While I was super stressed and not totally impressed with my efforts, I'm proud of the progress that I have made and will continue to make on other things. If I could give wisdom to a student taking this class next semester I would give the following tips of advice:
1. Go beyond your comfort zone with your business idea and truly have fun with it. The assignments will be so much easier if you are passionate about them (I love working on my idea).
2. Find someone else taking the class and exchange contact information if you do not already have it because it is nice to have someone to ask questions to.
3. Read over each assignment at the beginning of the week so that you can plan out your schedule accordingly.
Second-half of the semester let's do this!

Hey Emily,
ReplyDeleteI can’t believe we are halfway done as well! Time is flying by. I try to manage my time really well especially while taking five classes and working. Sometimes I get super stressed too, but that just means we don’t manage our time well. The three tips you gave would definitely help someone in this class. I like to look at what the assignments are early so I can plan them out accordingly. Good post!
I think the tips that you listed for a potential future student are really insightful and helpful. This class definitely pushes us to leave our comfort zones, and it's nice being able to ask fellow students for feedback. I appreciate that you mentioned the stress that comes with the excitement of this class, and I can relate to pushing the elevator pitch to the last minute (I forgot how tedious recording speeches can be). Great post!
